PEOPLEMOVER THRU THE AMAZING WORLD OF TRON

Tomorrowland, Disneyland 1982

(offset printing, 30"x45")

Designers used the same artwork from the motion picture TRON for this short lived

attraction poster.

GRAN PRIX RACEWAY

Tomorrowland, Walt Disney World 1971

(silkscreened, 30"x45") -sponsor: Goodyear

GRAND PRIX RACEWAY

Tomorrowland, Walt Disney World 1978

(off set printed, 30"x45") -sponsor: Goodyear

Designer: Richard Hebner

This opening year attraction poster for The Vacation Kingdom, used almost

identical artwork for Disneyland's 1956 AUTOPIA poster.

Oddly already outdated looking for even the early 70's, some alterations

have been made to the car, to refelct the Mark Seven Autopia type car

used by 1971 (and still today!) even racing numbers and flames have been

added to reflect Florida's version of this attraction. In 1978 a new "Grand Prix

Raceway" poster designed by Richard Hebner, replace the 50's style "Gran" Prix

poster. The newer one clearly is inspired by the motion picture poster "Grand Prix"

staring James Garner. (I'll post an image of the 1978 version on a later post)

Ironically Goodyear helped finace the motion picture and was also the sponsor

of this attraction.

It makes me wonder why a newer attraction poster wasn't produced for

Disneyland during this time to show the newer styled car shown here.

Even up untill the early 90's original styled 1956 Autopia posters were

were still on display at the Anaheim park --showcasing a car that had not

been in use 4 decades!
